Breastfeeding SupportAt HealthEast, we advocate for breastfeeding and are committed to providing support and education. However, we also understand that breastfeeding is a personal choice and not for everyone. Whether or not you choose to breastfeed, your decision will be respected by our staff. In the hospitalOur Maternity Care nurses have specialized training to support lactation (breastfeeding). At St. John's and Woodwinds, there is also a daily breastfeeding class for new moms in the hospital. A certified lactation consultant is available to help if you have concerns. Purchase breastfeeding supplies The HealthEast Outpatient Lactation Clinic at St. John's has Medela breast pumps and a limited number of breastfeeding supplies for sale. Electric breast pumps prices include a $10 discount. To purchase these products, call HealthEast Outpatient Lactation at 651-232-3147 and leave a message. A lactation consultant will call you Monday through Friday between 9 am and 2 pm. If you need to purchase products outside these hours, please call St. John's Maternity Care Center at 651-232-7550 and ask if a staff person is available to help you purchase breastfeeding supplies. After you go homeAfter discharge, you can get breastfeeding support by telephone or by scheduling an appointment with a certified lactation consultant.
