Weekly E-mail for Expectant and New ParentsWe want to help make your baby's birth a
memorable and meaningful experience. The
Maternity Care staff at St. John's is dedicated
to supporting you through this exciting, life-
changing event. We are respectful of your wants,
needs and expectations of the birth process.

Soothing, comfortable
environment

Pre-Register Online for Your Hospital StayThe décor in the Maternity Care Center was
designed with expectant moms in mind. You will
be surrounded by soft, soothing colors and stay
in a large, private room that lets natural light spill in.

Each room is equipped with a rocker and a chair
that pulls out into a bed so your partner or support person can spend the night in your room.

Family-centered care

For your comfort and ease, our family-centered model of care allows you to stay in one room throughout labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum. After the birth, you are encouraged to keep your baby in the room with you. Called "rooming in," this important time together helps you and your partner learn how to care for your baby's needs.

Devoted staff

Babies can make unpredictable entrances into the world, so we have an ob/gyn doctor and neonatal nurse practitioners readily available at the hospital.

From aides, to nurses, to doctors, our entire staff is devoted to caring for women and their families. With years of experience, we have the knowledge and skill to help you through the birth and get you off to a good start with your baby.

Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

Most women have uncomplicated pregnancies and go on to deliver healthy babies at our Maternity Care Center. But if the unexpected occurs, we have the expertise to help you through it. Our fully-equipped neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and skilled staff are prepared to care for sick and premature newborns. Our NICU technology is specially designed to treat babies as premature as 28 weeks gestation. Click here to learn more.

Visiting hours

Partners, siblings and grandparents are welcome throughout your stay.

For other family and friends, suggested Maternity Care visiting hours are daily from:

  • 2 to 4 pm
  • 7 to 8:30 pm

To protect you and your baby from illness, visitors should be healthy. Ask family and friends to wash their hands before picking up and holding your baby.

Meals

You will be served nutritious meals each day while you are in the hospital. If you would like to bring food from home, a microwave and refrigerator are available. We offer a cafeteria and vending machines for family and visitors.
